TSG STAFFING SERVICES is currently recruiting a CONSTRUCTION FIELD SUPERVISOR for an opportunity in the Fort Saskatchewan area in an Operating Plant environment.
Job Description
- Scope of responsibility includes ensuring safe execution in all aspects of the assigned work including, but not limited to developing safe job plans; critical task coordination on a wide range of jobs; and ensuring efficient and effective execution of the field scope of work.
- Set expectations and enforce standards for all assigned personnel.
- Communicate key safety, health and environmental messages to the execution workforce at construction meetings, field risk assessment discussions, safety meetings or ongoing safety related discussions throughout the shift.
- Indirect supervision of the project group construction trades.
- Participation in daily project work planning, scheduling and management.
- Manage assigned contractor supervision on project tasks.
- Maintain daily communications with contractor foremen and general foremen.
- Coordinate activities of trade-related contract workforce.
- Look ahead and prepare for upcoming activities (Based on the daily shift schedules).
- Plan ahead to minimize delays of progressing key work activities.
- Material staged, equipment reserved, set-up completed ahead on time, trade coordination, permit request issue resolution.
- Assist in development of contractor and owner skills; throughout the shift, monitor progress against the execution priorities as defined at the project schedule meeting.
- Look ahead at upcoming activities or execution changes and work with the project team planner to identify schedule improvement opportunities throughout the project execution phase.
- Complete daily safety leadership surveys and other safety-related surveys; investigate incidents and complete assigned corrective actions.
- Attend / lead group safety meetings, ensure compliance by work group to site’s safety and operations standards.
- Complete material requisitions as required, contract service requests and contractor timesheets approvals.
- Stay abreast of construction technology and implement improvements on site, when justified.
- Ensure own capability development is completed to meet all requirements for the position.
- Enhance site building trades and safe work practices.
- Interpret sections of owner site safe work manuals as they relate to building trades work.
Job Requirements
- Multi-disciplinary construction supervision experience required; a minimum of 10 years is preferred.
- A degree in the fields of: piping, mechanical, or electrical
- Outstanding organizational, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Communication and leadership abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety & Environment.
